FILM - POLLOCK

POLLOCK (2000)
Directed by Ed Harris.

A film based on the life of the artists Jackson Pollock. This film gives insight and understanding in to the life and art of Jackson Pollock (played by Harris). Harris learnt to paint like Pollock for his role in this film, and so the scenes where he is bent over a canvas painting are as close to the real thing as they could be. It is incredible to watch the paintings develop in the film as well as learning more about Pollock's life. I would strongly recommend this film, especially if you are interested in Pollock's work, and if you would like to borrow it let me know!! After seeing the film I would now be interested in reading the book from which it was developed, 'Jackson Pollock: An American Saga', (Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith).
