PLACE - XSCAPE (CASTLEFORD - LEEDS)

The Fatties Hit The Slopes.

As part of a staff meeting we were taken to Xscape for some tobogganing and general fun in the snow!! It was exhilerating to be doing something different, and great to be able to play in the snow in the middle of August!! We had meeting before to discuss the growth of the brand which, for obvious reasons, I found really interesting!

TYPOGRAPHY - ODED EZER

Experimental Hebrew Typography
Oded Ezer

These three-dimensional, experimental typography has been created by Oded Ezer. In an interview Ezer says he allows himself to be 'influenced by a different, detached field e.g. by nature, science or architecture'. This is evident by the structure of his work; his typographic designs are exciting and unique. Ezer also says that his first creative purpose is to 'have fun'. I admire not only this about the designer, but also the way in which he works away from computers; creating something unique with his own hands.

DESIGNER - MARK CHANDLER

Mark Chandler

I found these images, created by Mark Chandler, really stricking. The antithesis between the watches and the flowers, worms and slugs is interesting. The images bring together a desirable, man-made object with these natural "beauties". In these images it seems as if the watches are becoming part of nature, suggesting perhaps that wearing one of these is a natural thing to do.

This website showcases a range of works from artists/designers in various fields. The illustration section of this website contains some really inspiring deigns, and it is great to be able to look through them all at such ease. The website is definately worth looking at as it presents such a wide range of works contained within one area.

WEBSITE - TOSHIFUMI TANABU

http://www.geocities.jp/t_tanabu

This website is a showcase for the work of Toshifumi Tanabu. Works with various media Tanabu creates a wide range of visual outcomes, from fascinatingly simple pencil sketches to intricately designed artwork in photoshop and illustrator. I particularly admire the work where Tanabu mixes media; using his own sketches and manipulating and enhancing them digitally, merging them with other images.

WEBSITE - NEIL DUERDEN

The illustrations on this website are amazing. A combination of mixed media and photography interlaced with vectors. I really admire the style of this work, the way you can look at them for hours and still notice new elements of the design, colour, pattern etc.
